The Consumer Act,2019 brings fundamental changes to regulate e-commerce, direct selling of goods and mediation in consumer disputes, etc. The new rules strengthen the confidence for all the three parties in the Direct Selling Industry. The rules define direct selling as marketing, distribution, and sale of goods or provision of services directly to the consumer otherwise than through a permanent retail location.

It will benefit genuine players in the industry and help identify pyramid schemes that are not allowed.

It will generate higher trust value and acceptance from the consumer. 

The product acceptance and reach will be increased. Help serious/genuine companies to grow, protect consumers and disallow e-commerce platforms from offering products without their consent. Give uniform guidelines to be adopted by States, helping companies with state monitor compliances.

The Direct Selling Guidelines,2016 initially provided a good start for our industry. Govt. recognized the role and importance of Direct Selling. It’s a beneficial for all three parties – consumer, distributor, and selling company.Only legitimate companies are now present in the market which are encouraged to maintain theirs standards as per the international players.India is considered as an attractive location for doing direct selling and local companies are considering direct selling as a channel of distribution for the development of our industry.
